    Melt butter in a large pot over medium-high heat. Stir in onion, and cook until transparent, about 5 minutes. Add salt, shrimp, and beer. Simmer until shrimp turn pink.

    Remove from the heat. Let shrimp sit for at least 1/2 hour. Serve warm, or refrigerate and reheat before serving.
